420 meeting
(23 September 2005)
On Monday 26th September, at 6.30pm a meeting of sailors, parents, coaches and other interested people
will be held to discuss 420 coaching and development. The meeting will be run by Mat
Brown who has been working with Simon Cooke and the NZ 420 association to put together a
coaching plan for the class through to the World Championships, which are to be held in
Auckland in 2007.
The aim of the meeting is to hear what the association has planned and
to work out how Wellington might fit into the mix. The meeting is intended for any sailors
who might be considering sailing a 420 in the future as well as for those people who are
involved in coaching and supporting the class to grow.
Pizzas will be provided before the
meeting just to make sure you don't go hungry!!
We plan to start around 6:00 at Worser Bay YC.
I will begin by talking about everyone's
success in France and rev everyone up about the Worlds at Torbay 2007. Show the NZ 420 Worlds
Team 2005 DVD for the 420 Intro Evenings.
I'll then introduce the 420 development plan and calendar.

The clinic is for optimist, p class,

Yachting New Zealand youth coaches will work with Wellington coaches to deliver the programme.
Marty Watson, YNZ Youth and High Performance Director, will attend the clinic and is keen to
observe youth sailors from around the regions, particularly those who intend to sail in 420s
and lasers at YouthSail 2006.

sailing.academy@rpnyc.org.nz including your name, phone number, and the class you sail.

junior results
(September 2005)
We desparately need someone to take on the job of compiling the
junior results. This involves entering them into the computer each time
there is a series race and then generating a set of handicap and line results.
This takes around 1.0 to 1.5 hours on each series race day.
Training in how to do it will be provided. If you can take on this
job please let Dean Stanley know as soon as possible, by phone on 972 3326, or
email.

One WBBC Learn to sail course completed. Susan ph 976 4227.
August 05 I'd like to crew on a Sunburst. I started sailing about 4 years ago on
keelboats at Port Nic, having done their intro and advanced keelboat courses, and then
sailed regularly in the keelboat races. I then did a centreboard course at Evans Bay,
and then sailed on trailer boats for a season. I haven't sailed for about a year, but
want to get back into regular sailing, but in centreboards, specifically sunbursts. I'd be prepared
to sail every race, and go out for practice sessions if need be.
