(January 2007)

Please also note that the resail day (all senior classes)that scheduled for March 10 is now transferred to February 10.
Sailing programme

Lack of Sailing Opportunities If Saturday racing in blown out we will have club organised informal sailing (all classes) on the Sunday morning at 10am.

General Both of the items above will remain under review for further changes depending on whether or not, over the next few weeks in particular, we lose any further Saturdays.

future regattas at wbbc

(July 2006) The Sunburst Nationals will be at Worser Bay over Easter 2007, followed almost immediately thereafter by the Youth Selection Trials 2007.
Andrew Paterson is looking for a fairly large organising committee for these two events. There are varying tasks suited to the varying skills across our members viz, Race Management, Race Officers, Ceremonies/Prizegivings, Sponsorship, Catering, Rescue Boat Management and Safety, Boat Measuring and Boat Storage.
The characteristics of the two regattas are somewhat different in that Youth Sail is a multi fleet event (Laser, 420, RSX Boards, Hobie Cats), and expected to involve more competitors than the Sunburst Nationals, although the aim for the Sunburst Nationals is to get a fleet of up to the sixty plus boats we have seen in the past.
If you can help, with either one, other, or both events, please email Andrew at andrew_r_paterson@paradise.net.nz
The first meeting for the organising committee will at the clubrooms on Tuesday 8 August, 7.30 p.m. - so come along then to hear more about what is involved. Everyone welcome!

annual general meeting

(July 2006) A very good AGM turnout voted back in the present flag officers, and, in the main, existing general committee, sailing committee and house committee members for another year.
Missing from the general committee is Sophie Lloyd who is now overseas. New committee members include Tony McGlennon (General), Steve McDowall (Sailing) and Jude Taylor (House). Apologies to any new names overlooked.
Our patron Howard Raitt had indicated he would like to step down and Penn Moore has agreed to accept that position. We very much appreciate the support and interest in the club from Howard firstly during his time as President, and, more recently as Patron and hope that we will still see him around at the club from time to time. Penn is a club stalwart from way back with ongoing family links and we are delighted that he has stepped in to the role of patron.
Commodore TC reported on a successful year, on the water and socially, Craig Taylor's work in securing a 4th rescue boat (albeit without motor at this stage), buildings maintenance by Paul deLisle and Peter Hanns and their work towards approval of another shed to allow more boat storage.
The past year unfortunately saw a small deficit from club activities -this does not include capital items which were separately funded. The budget for 2006/07, with increasing costs such as fuel for rescue boats, and contnuing maintenance on buildings and the rescue boat fleet necessitates an increase in next season's sub and canteen prices to achieve breakeven. The motion put by the Treasurer that subs increase by 15% family membership and 25% other categories was approved by the meeting. The amendment to the rules concerning election of officers was passed.
Nomination for all flag officers and general committee members will in future years need to be lodged with the Secretary seven days prior to the AGM.
