Dreverman/Steven 3.1 Matters Arising The remaining money for the mistral board coaching may be used for introductory coaching. Some concerns within the club had been raised that availability of had not been advertised widely enough. This was noted and the opportunity will be advertised on the website. Heleen and Lynette to take names. A meeting took place to discuss the surplus funds for the recent Picton Opti trip. The recommendations were as follows: $300 set aside $50 petrol vouchers for support boats $400 for team flags. Ali Middleton to get quotes $200 donation towards anemometer $700 dedicated to Opti Race Squad Some money for coaching coaches was an idea put forward. 4. SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS: 4.1 Sailing Committee VICE COMMODORES REPORT 2/4/03 Last junior series races and two senior resails this Saturday will complete series events for the year. Remaining events Burglar of the Bay, and then Champion of Champions involving Opti, P Class, Starling, Sunburst, Mono and Skiff class champions in club sunbursts on April 26. Rowan Hatch has commenced organization of the Autumn Series starts Sunday April 27. Steve Hogg and Neil Wood winners of R Class Nationals and the Worser Bay team who have won the WYA inter-club teams racing competition. We would like a photo of Steve and Neil for the wall. Some LTS Graduates seeking to organize use of club sunbursts at times that suit them. This committee is asked to confirm that: requirements listed on page 24 and 25 remain in place. In particular boats may not be used unless a pick-up boat is on the water. Section Four (pages 20 and 21) of the Almanac is applicable. The responsibility for safety of those who took out club Sunbursts on days which wasnt a club day was discussed. It was concluded that it would be advertised that club Sunbursts would be available for use on a Saturday when rescue boats were available. Suggested that for use of rescue (ex events scheduled in the Almanac) people need to apply to the committee for approval. If urgent request will be circulated around, as a minimum, Boatmaster, Commodore, Vice Commodore, and Coaching Co-ordinator. A formal policy will be introduced in to next years Almanac. The committee discussed this issue. The following were some points raised. At present the 3 metre is lent to those who approach Craig and he feels happy to let it be used. He feels that the 3 metre should be freely available. Risk Management and club responsibility for those on the water. Cost Private Tuition Club Activities. There were many differing opinions and perspectives on this issue that all contributed to the fact that this is a complex issue that needs further thought. To continue. Lynette has asked for approval to use the 3 metre for training of Starlings for the rest of the season. This was approved by the committee Moved Richard Dreverman. Seconded Maurice Scott.. Letter tabled is in Correspondence It was also proposed that we plan to encourage a Starling Squad for next year. This would be for club members. Club Instructors Course: scheduled for early. Introductory Race Management: Mid May/early June on much the same basis as above. Two responses (Phil Williams and Dean Stanley) so far. A separate YNZ Race Officers Course scheduled for 19/20 July -over the full weekend. YA keen to re-instate Youth Committee of 1 representative from each club, meeting, say, quarterly. Chairman a delegate to WYA. I would like to have a list of those interested to select best candidate based on, knowledge of youth classes and expected contribution to the committee and related activities. In view of urgency I request committee approval to forward nomination after conferring with Commodore and Coaching Co-ordinator. Maurice Scott 4.2 Sailing School and Training: Usually at the end of the season we receive a report, and hold a debrief with Academy pesonnel. That will happen again. Craig mentioned the sometimes rough use of our new sunbursts they should not be dargged up the beach, trolleys must be used. Bob queried whether attendance records were taken this year? Bob (or Nigel) will check with Gerry. 4.3 House All is going well. .4.4 Buildings We decided to announce a working bee for the morning of the 4th of May before sailing in Rowies autumn series. 4.5 Boatmaster The centre console for the 3m is nearly done te boat will be back on the water soon. The Lovelocks trailer axle is bent Link Engineering are straightening it. This winter we will need to check for corrosion on the Grand (as was found on the 3m). Lovelocks is OK. The boat shed door still needs attention. Andrew to follow up on rivets.
