   CLUB PICNIC  

Sail to a deserted Island, Play some silly games, BBQ & Ice Cream and sail home all in a day

For Junior, Senior, and Non-Sailing Members, Learn to Sail Graduates & Participants, Parents, Supporters and others.

 

Saturday December 21st 

 

9.00am                    Rig up and put your boat name on your beach trolley.

9.30am                    Briefing & safety item check (See below)

10.00am                  Competent Juniors wishing to sail leave for Ward Is under care of rescue boats.

10.30am                  Senior sail over.

                                Non sailors travel on support boats - extra boats welcome, maybe needed.

Noon2pm            Basic BBQ lunch (sausage, bread etc) & ice block, fun races etc

2.30pm                    Leave for Worser Bay

3.30pm                    All off the water & accounted for.

 

Everyone Bring

Cost is $3 per person, water bottle, sunblock, hat, shoes and some dry clothes & towel in plastic bag for on the Island.

Non-sailors need a spray jacket and a life jacket (Some supplied) if you can for the trip to and from the Island.

 

If weather bad alternative program at or near Worser Bay - at worst ludo in the clubhouse! W B Surf L S Club programme

PERSONAL

Juniors check with your coach and parents if you can sail over.

Attend Briefing 9.30am Saturday morning.

SIGN on/ off  names Skipper,Crew present and boat secure Worser Bay & Ward Island. (Lollie reward?)

 

GROUP

Stick with the group as you sail over. You will be crossing the shipping lane.

 

At WARD ISLAND

Secure your boat: 

Tie up to an anchor line we will bring or help each other to lift boats on to beach.

Juniors Sign in: and sign off the Island and back home too. (Lollipop?)

Wait on the beach:

The Island has many steep banks and unprotected cliffs. Juniors stay on the eastern beach (facing Eastbourne) unless directly supervised closely with an adult, to go around or on top of the Island.

You will need shoes on the island:

The Beach is not sand. It is shingle and broken shell.

 

Toilet : will be very basic but there will be a place and bucket.
