Optisail 2002
is a four day coaching clinic run by Yachting New Zealand in conjunction with those selected host clubs around New Zealand. It is a Coaching Clinic for Optimist and P Class (outside Auckland) sailors. The main aim is to learn a great deal about racing, tactics, tuning, and boat handling as well as a focus on a fun week of sailing on the water. Each clinic has top New Zealand sailors and coaches performing the coaching duties under the direction of Yachting New Zealand’s National Programme Coordinator or an appointed Director.The venues for this year are:

ALL Optisail 2002 clinics have restricted numbers
Optisail 2002 clinics are open to all Optimist and P Class (outside Auckland) skippers who have attained the Yachting New Zealand Level I certificate at the time of forwarding their enrolment form. They shall also be working towards the Yachting New Zealand Level II certificate, or have completed Level II by the Optisail commencement date. Preference will be given to those Optimist and P Class sailors who have already attained Level II and are attending for the first or second time*, have applied before the closing date, and have indicated a second choice. All participants should be financial members (Family membership is acceptable) of a Yachting New Zealand affiliated club. Acceptance will be at the sole discretion of the Yachting New Zealand.
* If two or more members of a family wish to attend, one of whom has attended previously, the full family will be accepted together. Those who have attended an Optisail on three or more previous occasions may not be accepted.
If you are accepted into Optisail 2002, you will receive written confirmation as soon as possible after receiving your application from.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS
Optisail 2002
operates on a live-in basis and all participants will be housed for three nights. Participants will need to supply their own adequate sleeping gear (camp stretcher, sleeping bag, pillow, blankets, etc). All meals will be provided but participants may need to supply their own cutlery and drinking mug. Check programme for details.BOATS & GEAR
You will need to bring your own complete Optimist or P Class along with some spare parts and lashings. A full list of the requirements your boat will need will be mailed to you once you have been accepted for the clinic. Full sailing gear, including wetsuits and buoyancy aids, along with ample warm clothing and suitable footwear will also need to be supplied by you.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS
If any parents or guardians are prepared to spend a night or two as a chaperon, or assist in any way during the week, please advise on the enrolment form. A roster will then be mailed to you in due course. (It is cheap accommodation and you are very much appreciated by all.)
PROGRAMME
Upon approval of your enrolment, and providing the full fee has been paid, a copy of the 2002 programme will be forwarded to you as confirmation of your acceptance to Optisail 2002. The programme concludes on the last day with a presentation and a farewell function finishing at 3.30 p.m. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to attend on the last day to view the results of the clinic. Participants will not be allowed to leave the training clinic for any period during the week except with prior approval of the Optisail Director, and then only with good cause.
ENROLMENT & FEES
Preferential enrolment closes on 7 December 2001. Late enrolments may be accepted after the closing date at the sole discretion of Yachting New Zealand. In the event an enrolment is declined a full refund of the fee will be made. The full fee is payable with application for Optisail 2002. Check application form for details. No refunds will be made for withdrawals after 14 December 2001.

Yachting New Zealand and the host clubs, their sponsors, officers, employees, members or volunteers, do not accept any liability for loss or damage (material or personal) suffered during or arising at Optisail 2000. It is the individual's responsibility, if so desired, to ensure they have adequate insurance cover for boats, equipment and personal effects
