Club History 1926 - 2001: 75 years

Grahame Anderson is our club historian.
Grahame is the author of "Fresh About Cook Strait"

Grahame advises his original intention was to make it a 70 year (1926-1996) history.
But w
hen Heleen Visser was elected Commodore in 2001 it became a trebly significant year, because it was the club's 75th, because Heleen was the first female Commodore, but also because way back in the club's history, when the first female was accepted as a member, it was agreed to on the condition that she could not expect to be allowed access to the male-only toilets and showers!
It now is a 75 Year (1926-2001) History!

Here he takes up the story of Worser Bay Boating Club.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to see the History.

A note from Keith Salmon, the webmaster of the Idle Along Association Web Page.

The Idle Along Association of New Zealand runs an irregular newsletter by email.
Any IA owner, skipper or crew is welcome to join. Please send your full details (Name,
Address, Phone number, Email address, Boat name, Boat Registration Number, Age and construction of boat) to Keith.Salmon@abls.co.nz.

We also run an informal website - www.geocities.com/pipeline/shore/1973/

The association created an Alf Harvey memorial trophy - which is a kauri half model
carved by Peter Sewell.
This is raced for each year in conjunction with the Auckland Anniversary Regatta.
Out of town entries are welcomed - contact the association for details.
