Look at this Screen Capture of what we see on the PC in the Start Box. Live real -time graphs of all the parameters, but particularly Wind Speed, Wind Direction and Barometric Pressure.   FreeWX Screen This screen was captured during a Southerly Gale in February 2004 at Worser Bay. The anemometer had been blown around by the 50 knot gusts so the wind direction reads about 40-60 degrees west.

It is easy.

This is a gem from the MetService Learning Centre Page. "Wellington averages 173 days a year with wind gusts greater than about 60 km/h, (~30 knots) compared with 30 for Rotorua, 31 for Timaru, and 35 for Nelson."  .... we Worser Bay sailors know it only too well!
