The Ward Room The Notice Board

Commodore’s Report.

I guess it's one of those projects that capture imagination. Thanks to the organisers and the heaps of people who came and helped put on the new roof to the changing rooms. Looks good. A great effort and brilliant leadership. Job done in time to go sailing!

An excellent series staged by Rowie to finish off the season with a bang (oops…that was my mast) and generated heaps of enthusiasm for the next season.

Plenty is happening over the winter with the WBBC Prizegiving on 9th June and AGM in July.

See The Noticeboard in this issue and check out the Worser Bay website at http://www.wbbc.wellington.net.nz/.

The new sunbursts are scheduled for building over the winter and the opti’s need their annual inspection and maintenance. Volunteers are needed for the optimist maintenance programme. Ring or email me or Craig Taylor, the Boatmaster.

My sincerest thanks to all of you helping out in the club and making the job easy so that we can all go sailing, which is, after all one reason why we are there.

All the best with your boat maintenance and "go faster" upgrades ! See you at the Prize giving. P

Phil Williams.

Vice Commodore’s Report.

The season is almost over, just Prizegiving and the AGM to go. I've really enjoyed being Vice Commodore this season. It has been a very busy year with hosting two national regattas, a North Island championship, organising a new rescue boat for the club, and new sunburst training boats, amongst all the usual things that happen in and around the club.

I'd like to thank the numerous people who have helped out and provided support throughout the year. Next year sees me having a break from the Vice Commodore role to pursue another goal – Coast to Coast 2002. But I'll be back (if you'll have me!). P

Richard Middleton.

Rule Change

I intend to seek a new Rule for Worser Bay Boating Club. The alteration to the Rules would be done in accordance with Rule 45. That is the proposed alteration would be set out in the Notice of Meeting for the AGM.

The rule addition is proposed as follows:

30A Hebtro Trophy

All money collected at Hebtro Trophy shall be used for the advertised and intended purposes. In addition the following principles apply:

1) Hebtro Trophy income shall be accounted for separately, and shall not be borrowed upon for any other purpose.

2) Hebtro funds shall be used for children's and youth's learn to sail and coaching on a non exclusive/non elite basis.

3) Activities shall normally take place at Worser Bay.

2001/2002 Season Rosters

Every year we make up rosters for the Almanac for dates for "volunteers" to partake of the various necessary duties around the club. These rosters include Principal Race Officer duties on Saturday mornings and afternoons; PRO Helper (for older juniors) on Saturday afternoons; Saturday lunch; afternoon teas/bar; and Sunday morning Level 1 and 2 Parent Help.

Basically if people are prepared to help on four occasions for the year then we can easily fill the rosters.

The roster will be available at Prize Giving for you to pick your dates. If you are not going to Prize Giving and haven't had the chance to fill in the roster yet please let Nigel Lloyd know of any times during the 2001 and 2002 season that you are not available. We are keen to involve Optimist parents too so if you would like to help at lunch on Saturdays and provide parent help on Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings then, if you don't get access to the roster, let Nigel know. His home number is 388 7400 or email on nigel@acousafe.co.nz. And please if you can't make your duty then please arrange a swap with someone else.

Nigel Lloyd
